Chess Rating System
Back
The chess rating system is a system used in Prime Chess 3D to calculate the estimate of the strength of the player, based on his or her performance versus other players. It was introduced on 30 Nov 2019.
Initially, every player's rating starts from some number. It can be either 900 (Beginner), 1200 (Intermediate) or 1400 (Advanced). Once the match is completed, the rating for each player is recalculated. The more games you play, the more precise the rating is.

We're constantly reviewing the rating algorithm to make it better for everyone. Please contact us if you have any suggestions or issues.

Please read below important notes:
- The points you get after each completed game depend on your and opponent's rating.
- The higher opponent rating, the more points you get if you win and the less points you lose if your opponent wins.
- Often you can earn or lose some points even if it is a draw game, and sometimes you don't get any points when you win in case when your opponent rating is too low compared to your rating.
- For example, if your rating is 1200 and opponent's rating is 1400, you can get +3 points if it is a draw, you get +11 points when you win and you lose -4 points when you lose.
- Don't worry too much about your initial rating. If you chose the wrong level, it will be adjusted quickly.
- The rating is calculated only for the time-controlled games (Rapid, Blitz and Standard).
- The rating is calculated only for the completed matches that were played after 2 Dec 2019.
- If your opponent still uses the old version of the app, your rating will not be changed.
- If you delete the active game or quit the game, the game will be ended, and you'll lose the points because this action will be considered as 'Resign'.
- The rating is calculated only for the games where each player made at least one move.
- There is no option to reset the rating.
- It may take a few seconds to update your rating after the game is completed. You should get an in-game notification banner once it's recalculated.
- If your rating is above 1450 and you try to play a new Beginner level game, then your game will be automatically matched to the Intermediate level game.
- If your rating is below 1350 and you try to play a new Advanced level game, then your game will be automatically matched to the Intermediate level game.
- You can see the game statistics by tapping on the 'Chart' button (bottom left corner). There you can find the list of completed games, current rank, best win, average opponent rating, summary (pie chart), history rank chart, etc.
- Your device has to be online to see the statistics.
